#Chapter11Hope’s POV Trigger warning for sexual assault. The next two days I didn't go to school. I was completely exhausted from all the cleaning and chores and had my periods too, so I decided to skip those days and stay at home. I watched some movies on TV which helped me kill time. Other than that, I read the course books, and chatted with Marie. Our occasional texts turned into hours of texting and we became friends. I tried to contact Lily but apparently, she was spending the weekend at her Grandma's so she was not available. I wanted to tell her everything that happened recently and know her thoughts on all the events. She promised to call me on Monday and I was anxiously looking forward to it.On Thursday I called Mom and asked her to spend some time with me, because it had been ages since we had done that. Luckily, she took the weekend off and spent it with me and we caught up on everything. It felt good being able to see her around the house. The sight of
#Chapter12He said huskily. I stared at him, my light brown timid eyes watering already. I was really nervous."So what should I do with you? Because I fucking clearly told you to stay the fuck out of my business. What part of that didn't you fucking understand?" He asked curiously, his eyes glistening with amusement, whereas I didn't find the situation entertaining at all.He kept looking at me as if he was staring deep into my soul. Like he was figuring me out.I eventually averted my eyes and saw Sebastian standing at the end of the hallway. He must have seen the pleading look on my face as he ran up to us and pulled Heath away from me.I heaved in huge chunks of air, it seemed that Heath had managed to suck up all of the oxygen surrounding us.Sebastian whispered something to him, but Heath never once tore his eyes away from me. He kept looking at me as if he was trying to figure out what to do to me.He must be planning to kill me, I thought. Eventually, t
#Chapter13Hope’s POV I watched Heath's fist colliding aggressively against the man's face. He punched him a few more times and then strongly kicked him in the stomach that made him yowl in excruciating pain. The guy's face was smeared with blood and it became difficult to recognize the lines on his face. The tight wrinkles I had seen just a few minutes ago on his cheeks and forehead were now coated with thick red blood. His eyes were forced shut from the brutal damage Heath had done. He looked half-dead.Heath pulled out a black shining pistol from his back pocket and shot his left leg making the man screech out in agonizing pain. The sharp sound of the gunshot reverberated through the eerie quietness of the streets, smoothly slicing it like a knife between the butter. The pale yellow light of the old lamp glistened the area and I could make out Heath's figure standing a good distance away from me. My fragile body was instinctively trembling and I felt a strong wa
#Chapter14A massive headache evoked in my head and pulling my tired eyelids up, my eyes collided with a pair of deep blue eyes.Heath was sitting on the bed in front of me. He was wearing black sweatpants and a black hoodie. Even though he was dressed casually he looked so good. Like, breathtakingly good. Now I was sure Heath could pull off any outfit even if it was a casual simple night attire.I looked around and found myself in a foreign room. Panic began to overcome me and I peeked at Heath.I opened my mouth but the words didn't come out. I cleared my throat and tried again. "Where am I?" My voice was hoarse because of all the crying. It was unlikely that I'd be able to speak for several days.He broke the stare and took a glass of water from the table and handed it to me."In my room," he replied emotionlessly.Weakly I sat up and my brain instantly reminded me of the incident that had happened just a while ago. I lowered my gaze in embarrassment dwellin
#Chapter15Hope’s POV I was still searching around for the exit door when I heard footsteps in the distance. Frantically my eyes roamed along the long hallways and a pale white door came into my view. I rushed to the room, turning the knob around as I went in. It was a medium-sized room. Only a few things were visible due to the pitch-black darkness. My hands moved along the cold smooth surface of the wall as I proceeded into the room. At once something pressed under my fingers and the room lit up in an aesthetic golden light. The light rays lit up the room making everything glow up.I gasped as I took in how pretty this whole room was. The walls were coated with a light mauve color that looked pleasing to the sight. Somewhere on the walls, different muses were beautifully painted on.The one that caught my eye was a huge old tree. It was painted white and had red color leaves slowly falling from its twigs. It looked really pretty and I stared at it for the longest
#Chapter16"Just apply the antiseptic and wrap them up," I just didn't want him to pull the glass pieces out of my hand. It would hurt and I wasn't ready for more pain. But I knew I had to get through this."Quit being a baby and give me your hands." He said coldly, and I cower away from him. That look on his face reminded me of dad and I couldn't help but flinch."Fucking shit." He muttered and looked down and took deep breaths. After a few minutes, he looked at me a little softly."I'll try to be gentle and quick," he said a bit politely and I cleared my face with the back of my sleeves and nodded my head.Advancing my weak hand I gave it to him and he gently rubbed his thumb on my skin first and then with a tweezer carefully pulled out the pieces. It didn't hurt that bad. I was expecting an excruciating type of pain but it wasn't like that."Now that wasn't so bad or was it?" Heath asked me and I shook my head.He took the antiseptic wipes and roughly wiped agai
#Chapter17Hope’s POV The next day at school I found myself sitting alone in the cafeteria during lunch. After Lily I had gotten accustomed to the loneliness that now it didn't bother me as much as it used to in the start. I was habitual to chatting with Lily all the time, but now that was all old history. I remember Lily and I would choose the table away from the chattering crowd so that we could be away from the world. She would try new recipes at home and then bring them with her to lunch so that I could taste them, and rank her culinary skills. She was a good cook; no doubt about that. She was more into cooking than baking - cakes and cookies were not her thing. I terribly missed those days.Seated in an uncomfortable plastic chair, I was waiting for Marie because she said that she'd have lunch with me today. Other times she would go out with her boyfriend but today she suggested that I should eat lunch with her, her boyfriend and his friend. She texted me ten min
#Chapter18Marie: I'll drop you home today. It's going to be raining later this afternoon so instead of getting wet, you can go with me. Also that way we can go to the skull together.I wrote 'okay' with a 'thank you' and entered the class. The whole lecture was boring as we were discussing Romeo and Juliet. I understood everything but I didn't understand the depth of their love. Love was a feeling that I knew existed but I didn't hold much faith in it. My parents got married because they loved each other. They had met in college and in one glance dad fell for the enchanting beauty of mom. After pestering her for weeks mom finally agreed to go out with him and later on they started dating. Dad popped the question at their graduation and mom immediately screamed yes. It sure sounded like a romantic story but it really wasn't. In my opinion, love is being there for each other at the best and the worst. It isn't like you love a person only at his or her best. It is about bein
